Klook was founded in 2014 and today provides travellers with more than 60,000 products to choose from. In April 2019, Klook raised another $225 million, the largest amount to that date in the tours and activities sector. According to Skift, the additional funding will be used to "scale operations in Europe and expand further in existing Asian markets such as Japan".
Klook's mobile-first approach to travel booking
Klook has led the way with mobile-first bookings, making it easier for travellers to book in-destination.
In our interview with Klook's co-founder, Eric Gnock Fah, Klook focuses on bringing more tours and activities online as well as creating "user experiences that fit the needs of modern travellers".
He added, "We are proud to be one of the first to introduce the use of QR code e-vouchers and instant confirmation in the sector. Our services are also available in over 8 languages and support 36 different currencies, which further improves the booking experience."
Klook overtakes Trip.com in online searches
Klook overtook Trip.com (previously known as CTrip) in searches in November 2017 and has doubled in Google searches since then. Countries in South East Asia including Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia express the great interest in Klook, alongside Taiwan and South Korea.
These findings resonate with Klook's claims that 85% of their customers are based in Asia and that half of Asia's online sales for tours and activities are done through the OTA.
A really easy way to share your inventory with Klook
Our integration with Klook connects TrekkSoft's live inventory to Klook's sales channels, allowing tour and activity operators to provide real-time availability and instant confirmation to travellers.
With TrekkConnect, suppliers just click on "Enable" to connect with Klook and all their activities will be shared with the OTA. Unlike other OTAs like TripAdvisor Experiences or Get Your Guide, there's no mapping required! You simply select which activities to share and unshare with the OTA.
Once suppliers have shared their inventory via TrekkConnect, bookings from Klook will be processed automatically based on the supplier's availability. TrekkConnect then syncs updated availabilities across the supplier's other sales channels (i.e. their own website, the POS Desk used by their sales team, or listings on other OTAs), effectively reducing the manual work typically required to process bookings.
The bigger picture
As we've written multiple times on this blog, suppliers should not rely on just one channel for bookings, whether it's through one OTA, through your own website or through one travel partner. Diversifying your sales channels to reach different customer segments is key to an operator's long-term success.
With our suite of booking tools for online, offline, direct and 3rd party bookings, TrekkSoft continues to build a comprehensive platform that connects suppliers to travellers.
